Target Audience
The symposium is designed for neurologists, internists, family practitioners and other healthcare professionals who care for patients at risk for atherosclerosis and stroke.
 
Learner Objectives
At the end of symposium, attendees should be better able to:
  • List five risk factors for arthrosclerosis and stroke
  • Discuss the importance of IMT as a risk for heart disease and stroke
  • Describe the role of statins for stroke prevention
  • Cite three antiplatelet agents used for stroke prevention
  • Discuss surgical and interventional options for treating carotid stenosis
Accreditation
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine and the North Carolina Stroke Association. Credit
The Wake Forest University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 13.25 hours in category 1 credit towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each Physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the activity.
 
The Wake Forest University School of Medicine designates optional IMT Measurement Workshop is designated for a maximum of 3.5 hours in Category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
